VIOLATION OF MODEL CODE OF CONDUCT BY KAUN BANEGA MAHA CROREPATI

Sir,

We wish to draw your kind and immediate attention towards a TV show telecasted some minutes ago, An Ex- member of Parliament and host of the show (Mr. Amitabh Bachchan) was seen worldwide on SONY TV at 10.02 P.M. today popularizing the election symbol of an un recognized political Party named as Aam Aadmi Party in a question in a Programme called “Kaun Banega Maha Crorepati” by popularizing the election symbol given as a concession to the said Party. It is an open attempt of using his popularity even without being under the definition of Section 77 of the R P Act, and deserves strongest condemnations. The same can be verified by calling for truthful tapes of the telecast from the channel.

Further, one of the questions referred to the present candidate of INC from New Delhi constituency about recognizing her voice. Airing of such programmes on popular TV channels without any approval of the ECI authorities during electioneering periods directly amount to violation of Model code of conduct and instructions as these should be treated as unaccounted advertisements and promotional activities.

It is requested in the interest of free and fair elections that all programmes of the ex- MP on all channels be banned till the completion of even Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and further an enquiry be ordered between the relationship of AAP and ruling party relationship with the anchor ex-MP Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.

Any delay would not be in the interest of our democracy. Please pass instructions immediately to ban screening of all such programmes till elections and take action against Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, AAP and others immediately.
