Hi. I saw this website about stopping forced marriages. My name is Jamela. And I have a very difficult situation I don’t know how to get out from. My father set up an arranged marriage for me last year but he asked for my permission and I said ok because of my mother but last year my mom passed away and then after that I thought I can marry him it’s no problem so I didn’t deny the proposal. So his parents and my father becasme close and everything was fixed. But then I didn’t expect to meet someone else and fall in love. I am Prathamesh Bodhale from Kolhapur, Maharashtra. We are couple since 1.5 years. Her name is Snehal Powar. She is also from same district. We want to get married as I am about to settle with her. But she belongs to Maratha Caste and I belongs to Lingayat, we both are from open category. And still her parents strictly against us. They are not permitting for our marriage. They locked her in house and taken out her mobile. I can not text her. They are not agree with this relationship and the case is we are both, we can not live without each of us. We can not breath. My parents have no problem with this relationship. They easily agreed me and permitted to do so. My parents accepted her without any issue as I convinced them well.
